Thank you for 2016 and two delicious reds!

My First Year

2016 was a very dramatic year worldwide for many reasons, but I have to say this has been one of the best years on a personal and professional level. I've had the greatest joy watching my son experience the first year of his life and having a dream job for a wine geek was the ultimate cherry on top. I'm essentially a curator for the worlds greatest beverage in the best wine store in this part of the US.

The growth of wine culture in Johnson County is palpable, with people willing to try new things, different styles, breaking new grounds. Our Rose section expanded four times over, sold out of multiple rare french wines in hours, droves came back to the store to repurchase more Cru Beaujolais and we've gone through almost all our special club Champagnes before new years eve is here. I get emails daily with exceptional questions or seeking pairing advice on multi-course meals. I absolutely love it!

I want to thank you all for making this possible. I can't explain how fun this has been, showing you all things I love and getting fantastic reactions. It's been a blast and I can't wait to show you what I have lined up for this coming year!

Raptor Ridge
2014 Pinot Noir
Willamette Valley, OR

Oh look, the highest Pinot Noir around $20 we carry. And it's $5 off! You should drink it.

List Price: $24.99
Our Price: $19.99

My Take:

Inarguably one of the best Pinot Values around, Raptor Ridge Pinot Noir exudes wild strawberries, roses and blood orange on the nose, with a freshness of character and a beautiful finish. I highly suggest this perfectly balanced Pinot.

2015 Cabernet Sauvignon
Columbia Valley, WA

It's back. We sold out of this in record time on the inaugural vintage (2014), THEN it received 92 point and made the Wine Spectator Top 100 Wines of 2016. Well here's our chance again with the next vintage. We received less, and it is supposed to cost more, but we're keeping it the same price.

List Price $24.99
Our Price $18.99

My Take:

Took a bottle home last night and was quite impressed at the quality for the cost. It reminds me a lot of one of my previous favorites, Secret Squirrel (no longer available, they stopped making sad). Tons of blackberry and raspberry with herbs, spices, fresh violets and finishes with soft tannins. What we have is all we're guaranteed to get. So get it now!
